fake punts, fake kicks, "surprise" onside kicks, with rules to trigger their use and the plays that would be chosen: they would add some spice to the game, no?

Yea, and just how would a team defend against fake kicks? Sounds like a possible easy exploit to me. They would have to "Not Work" MUCH more than they would "Work"! imo
