Depth Chart

Total newbie here with a question that may sound ignorant. In regard to the Depth Chart. When I choose a specific position, say QB, the list of my QBs is near the top and placed horizontally. Below that are all positions (vertically). In regard to QB, which is the order of my depth chart? Is it the horizontal list or the vertical one? I ask because the order for the two is different.

I hope that makes sense.

The vertical columns below are your depth chart. The top is just your pool of players
